The Philippine Society of Mining Engineers (PSEM) Caraga Chapter, in coordination with the Professional Regulation Commission, sponsored the oath taking ceremony of new Mining Engineers and Certified Mine Foremen on October 2, 2015 at Hotel Tavern in Surigao City. A total of seventeen (17) new Mining Engineers and three (3) new Certified Mine Foremen from Taganito Mining Corporation took the oath of profession administered by Engr. Cornelio Q. Casido and Engr. Augusto Villaluna. The event was witnessed by the parents and family members of the new mining engineers. The event was held to cater to the new Mining Engineers who passed the August 2015 Mining Engineer Licensure Examination but were not able to participate in the oath taking ceremony which was organized by PSEM National last September 11, 2015 at the Diamond Hotel in Manila.
In
the same vein, the National President of the Philippine Society of Mining Engineers, Engr. Felizardo A. Gacad, Jr., inducted the new set of PSEM Caraga Chapter Officers and Board of Directors. Engr. Gacad also delivered a message in honor of the said event.
The newly inducted PSEM Caraga Chapter President, Engr. Charlo R. Basadre, urged his colleagues to always live up to the challenges of their profession and remain committed to ethics and excellence. “As members of the illustrious Philippine Society of Mining Engineers Caraga Chapter, let us actualize the obligations and privileges accorded us by our organization. As we strengthen our professional bond, may we achieve our goals in a spirit of accountability and service,” he said.
The event was graced by Engr. Cornelio Q. Casido, Chairman of the PRC Board of Mining Engineering; Engr. Augusto Villaluna, Member of the PRC Board of Mining Engineering; and En
gr. Jose B. Anievas, Chief Operating Officer of Nickel Asia Corporation. As pillars of the minerals industry, Dr. Elmer B. Billedo, Assistant Director of MGB; Hon. Jerry L. Dolino, former DENR Assistant Secretary for Mining and Executive Vice President of Adnama Mining Resources Inc.; and Engr. Alilo C. Ensomo, Jr., MGB VIII Regional Director, also attended the event. Also present during the event were the St. Paul University Surigao Vice President for Finance Services, Sr. Ma. Luisa Marcelino, SPC, and the Vice President for Academic Services, Dr. Aldrin A. Darilag. The Dean of the College of Engineering and Information Technology of Caraga State University, Engr. Alexander T. Demetillo, also took part in the event.
