The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII, in partnership with the Caraga Mine Environmental Management Council, Inc., conducted the Mine Rehabilitation Fund Committee (MRFC) and Multi-Partite Monitoring Team (MMT) Capacity Building Seminar-Workshop on December 1 to 2, 2022 at Parkway Hotel in Surigao City. Aimed at capacitating the MRFC and the MMT members for the conduct of monitoring on the implementation of the approved Annual Environmental Protection and Enhancement Program, the two-day seminar-workshop equipped the participants with the necessary knowledge that will guide them through the different aspects of their monitoring tasks.  The roles and areas of concern of every sector member that will be integrated into the revised MRFC/MMT Manual of Operations were discussed as well.  At the start of the activity, messages were delivered by MGB Caraga Regional Director, Engr. In keeping with the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women, the Gender and Development Focal Point System of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII conducted the Gender Sensitivity Training on December 6, 2022 at the MGB Regional Office No. XIII Training Center in Surigao City. With the theme “UNiTEd for a VAW-free Philippines”, this year’s campaign underscores the powerful impact of combining individual efforts towards a collaborative and united thrust towards a VAW-free Philippines. It is an affirmation of the unceasing anti-VAW efforts in line with the Philippines’ 20th year of participation in the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. The Mines and Geosciences Bureau conducted the 17th MGBEA Annual National Convention and 8th MGBEA National Congress on November 23 to 25, 2022 at the Swiss-Belhotel Blulane in Sta. Cruz, Manila. With the theme “Enhancing Employee Empowerment Towards Public Service Excellence,” the event was held in keeping with the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Employees Association’s efforts to consolidate, strengthen and unite its officers and members.  It was spearheaded by the MGBEA National Chapter and participated by Officers of MGBEA National, Central and Regional Chapters. The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII carried on with its virtual Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Campaign on the Results of Vulnerability and Risk Assessment (VRA) Project and Training-Workshop on Understanding Risk Exposure Maps for the Municipalities of Tubay and Santiago, Province of Agusan del Norte on November 3 to 4, 2022 via Zoom Platform.  In consideration of the significant decrease in COVID-19 cases for the past few months, the MGB Regional Office No. XIII personnel conducted a face-to-face pre-coordination meeting with the officials of the said Local Government Units (LGUs) on October 26, 2022. On the same note, the Office still follows strict protocols and even decided to conduct its IEC campaigns virtually via Zoom Platform in view of the prevalence of COVID-19.
