The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII and Caraga mining firms took part in the Minerals Industry Symposium on November 23, 2017 at the CAP-John Hay Trade and Cultural Center in Baguio City. The symposium was one of the primary activities held during the 64th Annual National Mine Safety and Environment Conference (ANMSEC) on November 21-24, 2017. The ANMSEC is a yearly gathering of mining firms in the country wherein the best practices in the industry’s social development, environmental protection and enhancement management and safety programs are highlighted and recognized. The theme of the 64th ANMSEC is Responsible Mining… In the Hearts and Minds of Filipinos. The Mines and Geosciences Bureau conducted the Training and Capability Building for MGB Personnel Responsible for Statistical Data and Analysis, Website Maintenance and Information Dissemination on September 18-22, 2017 at the Eurotel Vivaldi Hotel in Cubao, Metro Manila. On the first day of the training, the registration of participants and standard preliminaries took place. In the afternoon, the MGB Central Office gave an Orientation and Updates on Reportorial Requirements such as the Overview, Directory of Operating Mines/Accredited Dealers, Metallic Forms, Non-metallic Forms, SRS Forms 1-5, Reconciliation Report/Investment Form, Integrated Annual Report for large and small-scale mines (MGB Form 29-16 Metallic/Non-Metallic Minerals & Quarry Resources Mining and MGB Form 29-17 Small Scale Mining Permittee), and Taxes Forms.  The said orientation was given by the Mineral Economics, Information and Publications Division Staff of the MGB Central Office.  Atty. The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII, in cooperation with the Community Relations, Education and Development Officers Organization (CREDO) Caraga, Inc., conducted a three-day Training on SDMP and Participatory Project Planning on August 18 to 20, 2017 at the Parklane International Hotel in Cebu City. Community Relations Officers and official representatives of mining companies and processing plants, together with the Social Development Section personnel of MGB RXIII, actively took part in the activity.  The training was facilitated by Dr. Rolando Cuaño and Ms. Marita Cuaño of BMP Environment and Community Care, Inc. in response to the program of Regional Director Roger A. De Dios to capacitate the Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) workforce of mining companies and processing plants as well as the regulatory agency which is the Mines and Geosciences Bureau. The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII attended the Philippine Development Plan and the Caraga Regional Development Plan 2017-2022 Regional Launch on August 1, 2017 at the LMX Convention Center in Bancasi, Butuan City. With the theme “Ikaw, Ako, Kitang Tanan: Kalamboan, Atong Paningkamutan,” the Regional Launch was truly a symbolic gathering of people across all sectors. Before the program proper, the Exhibits were formally opened by Usec. Adoracion M. Navarro as assisted by the Local Chief Executives and the Regional Directors. Butuan City Mayor Ronnie Vicente C. Lagnada delivered the Welcome Address. NEDA Caraga Regional Director Mylah Faye Aurora B. Cariño delivered the Opening Message. She also introduced the keynote speaker. The Keynote Address was delivered by Undersecretary Adoracion M. Navarro who represented NEDA Secretary Ernesto M. Pernia. Usec.
