MGB conducts Training Course on Measurement and Internal Quality Control i...

The Lands Geological Survey Division of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Central Office conducted a Training Course on Measurement of Uncertainty and Internal Quality Control in the Analytical Laboratory with the theme “Enhancing Capabilities and Bridging Gaps Towards Effective Laboratory Performance” on April 10-14, 2018 at the Greenhills Elan Hotel in San Juan, Metro Manila. The said activity was participated by representatives from the Lands Geological Survey Division and Metallurgical Technology Division of MGB Central Office as well as Regional Offices with Analytical Laboratory including Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), MGB Calabarzon, Regions V, VII and XIII. Region XII also participated in preparation for their forthcoming laboratory operation. MGB RXIII conducts Training on the Principles and Applications of Remote S...

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII, in coordination with Caraga Mine Environmental Management Council (CMEMC) through Caraga State University-College of Engineering and Information Technology (CSU-CEIT) professors, conducted a five-day Training on the Principles and Applications of Remote Sensing and Geographical Information System (GIS) on March 12-16, 2018 at Hotel Oazis, Butuan City. This was participated by staff from Mine Environmental Protection and Enhancement Office (MEPEO) and Engineering Office of all Caraga mining companies and selected MGB RXIII technical staff. The training objectives were to realistically come up with National Greening Program and Mining Forest Program spatial data, based on the 2012 National Greening Program standard requirement, that will eventually be reflected in the mobile application Environmentor and to generate a spatial data not just on rehabilitated areas but also disturbed areas in compliance with the Sustainable Integrated Area Development (SIAD) requirements. MGB RXIII celebrates 2018 National Women’s Month

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII is one with the nation in celebrating the 2018 National Women’s Month with the theme We Make Change Work For Women. A series of activities were conducted to heighten awareness of the celebration.  A film seminar on the award-winning advocacy film “Boses” was conducted to MGB RXIII employees on March 15, 2018 at the MGB Training Center in Surigao City. The film seminar comprised a film viewing session with discussions on Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) which was facilitated by Ms. Mary Grace L. Dela Concepcion of Erasto Films.  The film seminar aimed to promote the continuous pursuit of achieving a VAW-free community through everyone’s commitment and contributions to end violence against women and children. MGB RXIII, CREDO, CMCRI and CMSHC hold 1st Quarterly Press Conference

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII, in cooperation with the Community Relations, Education & Development Officers Organization (CREDO Caraga), Inc., Chamber of Mines of Caraga Region Incorporated (CMCRI) and Caraga Mine Safety and Health Council (CMSHC), held a press conference on March 16, 2018 at the Philippine Gateway Hotel in Surigao City. The activity aimed to heighten public awareness of the assistance and rescue efforts of the Caraga minerals industry after the onslaught of Tropical Storm Basyang that inflicted loss of life and property damage.  It also aimed to inform the public of the state of small-scale mining activities in Caraga Region. In addition, the activity was aimed at strengthening the participation of and dialogue between the media and the mining stakeholders in achieving their common goals of ethical mining, ecological sustainability and authentic development. MGB RXIII takes part in the National Information Convention 2018

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII took part in the National Information Convention 2018 with the theme, Spurring National Development and Empowering Communities through Information, which was held on February 19 to 21, 2018 at the SMX Convention Center of SM City Lanang in Davao City. The Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) through the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), initiated and organized the three-day event which gathered over 1,000 participants, mostly national and local government information officers including representatives from national and local private media; digital media groups; non-government organizations and civil society organizations; academe and Information, Communication and Technology industries. The Philippine Information Agency, mandated via Executive Order 100 series of 1986 to be the premier development communication arm of Government, recognizes the singular role of information in spurring development and strengthening participatory governance by engaging citizens to become more involved in the democratic process. MGB conducts 2018 Geoscience Workshop

The Mines and Geoscience Bureau conducted the 2018 Geoscience Workshop on February 1 to 7, 2018 at Patio de San Jose Resort and Convention Center in Malilipot, Albay. The workshop was jointly organized by MGB Central Office and MGB Regional Office No. V.  It was attended by key personnel from the Lands Geological Survey Division of MGB Central Office, technical and support staff from MGB RV as the host region, and six geologists from each of the Regional Offices. Geosciences Division Chief Romeo Dalodado; Supervising Geologists Melvin Mantilla and Elaine Galido; Senior Geologists Liza Pacete and Beda Louie Cagampang; and Geologist II Ralph Angelo Plaza represented MGB Regional Office No. XIII in the workshop. MGB conducts Strategic Planning for Marine Geological Survey and Research

The Marine Geological Survey Division (MGSD) of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Central Office conducted a Seminar-Workshop on Strategic Planning for Marine Geological Survey and Research on January 22-26, 2018 at the Bali Village Hotel Resort in Tagaytay City. The said activity was participated by representatives of all Regional Offices. Two geologists from MGB Regional Office No. XIII Geosciences Division took part in the seminar-workshop. The activity started with a program wherein Engr. Glenn Marcelo C. Noble, Chief of Planning, Policy and International Affairs Division of MGB Central Office, delivered his opening remarks followed by the discussion of Philippine Development Plan (PDP), General Appropriations Act (GAA), Program Expenditure Classification (PRExC) and National Expenditure Program (NEP). MGB RXIII and CREDO conduct SDMP Rollout-Consultation and Reorientation

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII, in cooperation with the Community Relations, Education and Development Officers Organization (CREDO) Caraga, Inc., conducted the SDMP Rollout-Consultation and Reorientation on December 1-2, 2017 at the Parklane International Hotel in Cebu City. Representatives of Caraga local government units, Community Relations Officers and official representatives of mining companies and processing plants, together with the Social Development Section personnel of MGB RXIII, took part in the activity. The Department of the Interior and Local Government – Caraga Regional Office also participated in the activity. MGB RXIII and CREDO hold 4th Quarterly Press Conference

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII, in cooperation with the Community Relations, Education & Development Officers (CREDO) Caraga, Inc., held the 4th Quarterly Press Conference on December 15, 2017 at the Philippine Gateway Hotel in Surigao City. The press conference aimed to intensify public awareness of the current state of the Caraga minerals industry.  It also aimed to foster the participation of and dialogue between the media and the mining stakeholders in achieving the common goals of responsible mining, ecological sustainability and social development. MGB RXIII and CREDO also hope to forge collaborative ties with the media. Reporters from Surigao del Norte media outfits and various mining stakeholders participated in the press conference. MGB RXIII and Caraga mining firms participate in the 5th National Community Relations Officers’ Conference

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII and Caraga mining firms participated in the 5th National Community Relations Officers’ Conference on November 22, 2017 at the CAP-John Hay Trade and Cultural Center in Baguio City. The conference was organized by the Philippine Mine Safety and Environment Association (PMSEA) in keeping with the 64th Annual National Mine Safety and Environment Conference (ANMSEC) on November 21-24, 2017. The Community Relations Officers from different mining companies all over the Philippines attended the said conference with the theme, Consolidating Community Relations Work, Building Sustainable Mining Communities. The conference started with the welcome remarks of Engr. Louie Sarmiento, PMSEA President.  Atty. Wilfredo G. Moncano, MGB Director, delivered the Keynote Address. Hon.
