The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII conducted the Workshop on the Evaluation of Work Programs for Non-metallic Resources on July 3-4, 2019 at the MGB RO No. XIII Conference Room in Surigao City.  The workshop aimed to capacitate the technical personnel of Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO)-Agusan del Sur and Butuan City in evaluating the Work Programs submitted by a Qualified Person as mandatory requirements for Quarry Permit application at the Provincial/City Mining Regulatory Board. Technical personnel from the MGB RO No. XIII, PENRO-Agusan del Sur and Butuan City participated in the workshop.  Regional Director Glenn Marcelo C. MGB ROXIII joins kickoff activities of National Disaster Resilience Month C...

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII joined the kickoff activities of the National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM) Celebration on July 2, 2019. With the theme “Kahandaan sa Sakuna’t Peligro para sa Tunay na Pagbabago,” the NDRM was officially opened with a Thanksgiving Eucharistic Mass at Sto. Niño Shrine in Libertad, Butuan City. It was then followed by a motorcade from Butuan City to Magallanes, Agusan del Norte where the opening program, coastal cleanup and mangrove planting activities were all conducted. The event was spearheaded by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Caraga and Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC). Twelve personnel from MGB ROXIII, together with government employees, responders and other stakeholders, actively participated in the activities. The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII took part in milestone ceremonies at the Gigaquit National School of Home Industries on June 26, 2019 in Gigaquit, Surigao del Norte. The Turnover of School Projects and Launching of Alternative Learning System-Education and Skills Training (ALS-EST) Training Facility and Bread and Pastry Production National Certificate II (BPP NC II) Assessment Center highlighted the event.  Mr. Jose Gil L. Escabal, GNSHI Principal, was joined by Dr. Fidela M. Rosas, OIC-Assistant Regional Director of the Department of Education Caraga Regional Office; Ms. Julieta P. Erazo, ALS-EST Regional Focal Person; and Mr. Eduardo A. MGB conducts Workshop on the Preparation of Information Systems Strategic ...

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau conducted a Workshop on the Preparation of Information Systems Strategic Plan 2021-2023 on June 17-21, 2019 at Widus Hotel in Clark, Pampanga. ICT Focal Persons, IT Specialists and Planning Officers from the Central Office and the Regional Offices participated in the said workshop which envisions a fully automated Mines and Geosciences Bureau by the end of year 2023. The Assistant Director, Atty. Danilo U. Uykieng, welcomed the participants and formally opened the workshop. He underlined the importance of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and its positive impacts on daily work at MGB. He shared the MGB management’s vision of fully automated and centralized systems. He also shared that the first steps of this vision had already been laid out through the installation of the MGB Network and hiring of IT Specialists for its maintenance in the past years. MGB ROXIII conducts reconnaissance Geologic Mapping and Assessment of Buenavista and Bayugan River Quadrangles

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII conducted a reconnaissance or semi-detailed Geologic Quadrangle Mapping and Assessment of Buenavista and Bayugan River Quadrangles from June 10-25, 2019 in the Municipality of Carmen, Agusan del Norte and Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur. Carried out by a team of four geologists and two support personnel, the activity aimed to generate geo-scientific data and produce 1:50,000 scale map that can provide useful baseline information for mineral, energy and water resources development, engineering and land use planning, disaster risk reduction and environmental applications. The Municipality of Carmen was the last area out of the four municipalities surveyed by the team in Buenavista Quadrangle. The first three municipalities/cities previously assessed were Nasipit, Buenavista and Butuan City in the Province of Agusan del Norte last May 2019. MGB ROXIII receives accolade at 53rd Founding Anniversary of Bureau of Customs-Port of Surigao

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII received an accolade during the celebration of the 53rd Founding Anniversary of the Bureau of Customs-Port of Surigao on June 18, 2019 in Surigao City. With the theme One Mission, One Team, One BOC, the historic event  was graced by Customs Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero who attended as the Guest of Honor and Speaker.   The local community and the stakeholders of the agency that have helped it grow in the best interest of public service took part in the event. MGB ROXIII chemists take part in 34th Philippine Chemistry Congress

Chemists of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII took part in the 34th Philippine Chemistry Congress on May 28-30, 2019 at the Waterfront Hotel and Convention Center in Lahug, Cebu City. With the theme “CHEMbisyon 2019: Kimiko para sa Sariling Bayan,” this year’s congress reflects the collective aspiration of Filipino chemists to be given job opportunities in the country, be it in the academe, industry or any related field. It emphasizes the essential role of chemistry and chemical practitioners in nation building as it calls different sectors to bond together and develop viable solutions to challenges they are facing as a nation. MGB ROXIII supports initiative to compile and estimate Caraga Asset Account for Mineral Resources

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII supported the initiative on the compilation and estimation of mineral accounts in Caraga Region which is spearheaded by the Phillipine Statistics Authority-Regional Statistical Services Office XIII (PSA RSSO XIII). The Convening/Organization of the Steering Committee and Creation of Technical Working Group (TWG) for Caraga Asset Account for Mineral Resources was held on May 16, 2019 at the PSA RSSO XIII Training Room in Butuan City. It was attended by representatives from different Regional Line Agencies involved in the study of mineral accounts. The meeting aimed to achieve the following objectives: organize the Steering Committee; create the Technical Working Group (TWG); determine the permanent members of the TWG; and finalize the Terms of Reference of the Steering Committee and the TWG. The primary purpose of the said meeting was to create the Steering Committee and the TWG. MGB ROXIII continues to raise awareness on Mineral Resources, Geosciences and Gender and Development

In keeping with the programs under its 2019 Communication Plan for Minerals Development, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII continued to raise awareness on its regulatory functions and the socioeconomic contributions of the minerals industry. The Awareness on Mineral Resources and Geosciences and IEC Campaign on Gender and Development were conducted on May 8 to 10, 2019 at Barangays Mahayahay, Don Ruben and San Juan in the Municipality of San Jose, Province of Dinagat Islands. The Officials and Staff of the aforementioned barangays participated in the activity. Identified representatives from the academe, religious sector and civil society organizations were also invited to take part in it. The conduct of Awareness and Advocacy on Mineral Resources and Geosciences Development (MRGD) is one of the major programs of the MGB RO No. XIII. 16th MGBEA National Convention and 7th MGBEA National Congress: Advocating Employee Empowerment and Public Service Excellence

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau held the 16th MGBEA National Convention and 7th MGBEA National Congress on April 22 to 25, 2019 at the Microtel by Wyndham in UP-Ayala Land Technohub, Diliman, Quezon City. With the theme Enhancing Employee Empowerment Towards Public Service Excellence, the event was conducted in keeping with the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Employees Association’s efforts to consolidate, strengthen and unite its officers and members pursuant to Article VII, Section 5 of the 2017 MGBEA-MGB Collective Negotiation Agreement on the subject of Employees Welfare and Professional Development.  The Officers of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Employees Association from the National, Central and Regional Chapters took part in the event.
