The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII took part in the Mining Engineers’ Convention on July 10 to 13, 2024 at the Twin Lakes Hotel in Tagaytay.
The theme of MinECon 2024 is Innovating for Impact: Harnessing Technology and Expertise for Mining Advancement in the Philippines which brought together professionals to discuss the latest advancements, challenges and opportunities in the minerals industry.
Comprising technical presentations, discussions and networking sessions, the convention showcased the latest advancements in mining technology and sustainable practices. It also highlighted collective commitments to responsible mining and its positive impact on society and the environment. The Philippine Society of Mining Engineers (PSEM) spearheaded the convention.
The convention concluded with the PSEM General Assembly and the election of a new set of officers. Engr. Francisco J. Arañes, Jr., Resident Manager of Hinatuan Mining Corporation, was elected as the new President for the term 2024-2025.
The PSEM Officers have been steadfast in promoting close connections with members, updating them on the latest developments in both theoretical and technical aspects of the mining profession and allied fields. The PSEM continues to provide programs and enhance opportunities for its members to work as professionals, contributing to the development of a viable minerals industry within the context of sustainable development. In the same way, the society aims to cultivate a community of highly competent and responsible mining engineers on both national and global scales.
