MGB ROXIII conducts Stakeholders’ Forum

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII conducted the Stakeholders’ Forum on April 20 to 21, 2022 at Hotel Oazis in Butuan City. The forum formally commenced with the Opening Remarks of MGB Director Wilfredo G. Moncano.  At the heart of the forum were presentations of Resource Speakers from MGB Central Office and MGB Regional Office No. XIII and the open forum with the participants. MGB ROXIII attends first-ever Mining Caravan in Claver

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII attended the first-ever Mining Caravan on April 6, 2022 in the Municipality of Claver, Province of Surigao del Norte. Primarily aimed at showcasing the contributions of the mining companies and mineral processing plant operating in Claver, the caravan marked the start of the mining season.  Officials and Staff of the Local Government Unit of Claver, MGB Regional Office No. XIII, Adnama Mining Resources, Inc. (AMRI), Platinum Group Metals Corporation (PGMC), Taganito Mining Corporation (TMC) and Taganito HPAL Nickel Corporation (THPAL) were in attendance at the said activity. MGB ROXIII takes part in PSSMAI and LGU Placer benchmarking

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII took part in the benchmarking of the Placer Small-scale Mining Association, Inc. (PSSMAI) and the Local Government Unit of Placer on March 30, 2022 at the mine site of Masabong Village Small-Scale Miners Association (MAVISSMA) in Rosario, Agusan del Sur. The MGB Regional Office No. XIII participants comprised Regional Director Larry M. Heradez and a number of technical staff.  Mr. Emmanuel B. PMRB-PDI facilitates signing of Small-Scale Mining Contract of Tubajon Small Miners Association Incorporated

The Provincial Mining Regulatory Board (PMRB) of the Province of Dinagat Islands (PDI) has facilitated the signing of the Small-Scale Mining Contract (SSMC) of Tubajon Small Miners Association Incorporated (TSMAI) on March 21, 2022 at the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII in Surigao City. Present during the signing of the SSMC are MGB Caraga Regional Director and Chairman of the PMRB of PDI, Engr. Larry M. Heradez; President of TSMAI, Mr. Rico M. Vargas; Vice Mayor of the Municipality of Tubajon, Mr. Romeo Constantino L. Vargas and a number of MGB Caraga technical personnel. MGB ROXIII supports Philippine Mining Virtual Summit

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII supported the Philippine Mining Virtual Summit which was held on March 16 to 17, 2022 via Zoom Platform and Facebook Live. Attended by top executives, government authorities, policy makers, associations, investors, consultants, heavy equipment suppliers and leading industry solutions provider, the summit was organized by Mykar Events, in partnership with Philippine Resources Journal.  It served as an avenue of discussions about industry and policy updates, trends, opportunities and latest technology solutions needed for upcoming and future projects of the Philippine minerals industry.  The summit formally started with the Welcome Remarks of Department of Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Jim O. MGB ROXIII welcomes issuance of Revised IRR of People’s Small-Scale Mining Act of 1991

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Regional Office (RO) No. XIII welcomed the issuance of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Administrative Order (DAO) No. 2022-03 dated March 14, 2022 in re: “Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the Republic Act (RA) No. 7076, otherwise known as the People’s Small-Scale Mining Act of 1991” which effectively repeals DAO No. 2015-03, the previously revised IRR of RA No. 7076. Aiming towards a more effective and expeditious implementation of the People’s Small-Scale Mining Act, DAO No. 2022-03 provides for a more detailed and organized procedural guidelines on the registration and licensing of small-scale miners, as well as the declaration of Minahang Bayan, establishment of Mineral Processing Zones and application for Small-Scale Mining Contracts and Mineral Processing License. MGB ROXIII, CREDO Caraga, Inc. and CMCRI conduct Media Forum

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII, in cooperation with the Chamber of Mines of Caraga Region Incorporated (CMCRI) and the Community Relations, Education & Development Officers Organization Caraga, Inc. (CREDO Caraga, Inc.), conducted a Media Forum on March 8, 2022 at the Philippine Gateway Hotel in Surigao City.  The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Caraga Regional Office and Surigao City media practitioners participated in the activity. MGB ROXIII takes part in 2022 Virtual Geoscience Workshop

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII took part in the 2022 Virtual Geoscience Workshop from February 7 to 11, 2022 via Microsoft Teams.  With the theme Moving Towards Efficient and Strategic Implementation of MGB Geoscience Programs, the workshop was attended by Geologists and GIS Specialists of the Geosciences Division of MGB Central Office and Regional Offices.  Considering the unstable internet connection in Surigao City in the aftermath of Super Typhoon Odette, the MGB Regional Office No. XIII participants attended the workshop at the Butuan Grand Palace Hotel in Butuan City. The Opening Remarks given by the Chief of Lands Geological Survey Division, Ms. Liza Socorro J. Manzano, and the Keynote Speech delivered by the MGB Director, Atty. Wilfredo G. MGB Virtual Stakeholders’ Forum elevates mission of responsible mining

The #MineResponsibility campaign of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau carried on with the Virtual Stakeholders’ Forum on February 10 to 11, 2022 via Zoom Platform. With the theme Know Mine, Know Life: Elevating the Mission of Responsible Mining, the two-day forum was organized by the Mineral Economics, Information, and Publication Division of the MGB Central Office.  Almost 1,000 partners and stakeholders from the minerals industry, national and local government units, academe, media and civil society organizations from NCR, Calabarzon, and Mimaropa took part in the forum wherein the most recent mining policies and developments were discussed and the nine awardees of the 2021 Presidential Mineral Industry Environmental Awardees (PMIEA) were presented. MGB ROXIII holds Media Forum on Mining Concerns

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII held the Media Forum on Mining Concerns on February 3, 2022 at the Butuan Grand Palace Hotel in Butuan City. The forum is an initiative of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and is conducted in regions with priority mining projects.  Caraga is the fourth region to conduct the said activity.  On the same note, the forum featured recent MGB policies and projects of the minerals industry. The significant contributions of the minerals industry as a major economic driver and recovery option amidst the pandemic were underscored.  The forum started with a very engaging Welcome Remarks by DENR Caraga Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services, For.
