The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII held the Launch of the MGB Kids for the Environment on June 11, 2022 at the MGB Regional Office No. XIII Training Center in Surigao City. Attended by the children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews of MGB Regional Office No. XIII employees, the said launch started with the Welcome Remarks of Regional Director Larry M. Heradez. It was then followed by the presentation on The Benefits of Trees given by For. Enjie G. Pacillos-Cañete, Senior Environmental Management Specialist. After the presentation, For. Pacillos-Cañete taught the children how to plant. The children then planted their own ornamentals in pots which they took home after the activity. They also signed the Pledge of Commitment in which they committed to plant more trees and tend them with dedication and constancy in support of environmental preservation. In keeping with the Philippine Environment Month Celebration, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office of Surigao del Norte and the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office of Tubod took part in the Simultaneous National Tree Planting Activity on June 8, 2022 at the Provincial Tree Park in Brgy. Ipil, Surigao City. MGB Caraga Regional Director Larry M. Heradez; For. Joseph E. Langanlangan, Technical Services Division OIC-Chief of PENRO Surigao del Norte; and Mr. Ruel E. The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office of Surigao del Norte and the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII, in cooperation with the Caraga Mine Environmental Management Council, Inc., kicked off the 2022 Environment Month Celebration with a caravan and a short program on June 1 in Surigao City. The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII participated in the Training Workshop on the Fundamentals of Environmental Sampling and Field Survey Management on May 4 to 6 and 10 to 11, 2022 via Microsoft Teams. Technical personnel from the Geosciences Division and Mine Safety, Environment and Social Development Division of the MGB Central Office and Regional Offices took part in the five-day virtual training-workshop. Similarly, technical personnel from the Metallurgical Technology Division of the MGB Central Office also attended the activity which was organized by the Lands Geological Survey Division of the MGB Central Office. The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII attended the first-ever Mining Caravan on April 6, 2022 in the Municipality of Claver, Province of Surigao del Norte.
