The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII, in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the Environmental Management Bureau Regional Offices No. XIII, conducted the Capacity Building Seminar-Workshop for Caraga Mining Industry’s Mine Rehabilitation Fund Committee (MRFC) and Multi-Partite Monitoring Team (MMT) on June 4 to 5, 2024 at the Philippine Gateway Hotel in Surigao City.
The seminar-workshop had the following objectives:
- Discuss and reinforce the new and recent policies, mandates, and functions of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Mines and Geosciences Bureau, Environmental Management Bureau and Biodiversity Management Bureau to MRFC and MMT members;
- Enhance the capabilities of MRFC and MMT members in monitoring activities;
- Equip participants with the necessary knowledge and understanding essential for the effective execution of their responsibilities;
- Explore various aspects of monitoring, such as data collection, interpretation of findings, and reporting mechanisms;
- Empower MRFC and MMT members with the expertise needed to conduct monitoring activities with precision and efficacy; and
- Contribute to the sustainable growth and responsible stewardship of the environment during active mining and mineral processing operations.
