The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII attended the first-ever Mining Caravan on April 6, 2022 in the Municipality of Claver, Province of Surigao del Norte.
Primarily aimed at showcasing the contributions of the mining companies and mineral processing plant operating in Claver, the caravan marked the start of the mining season. Officials and Staff of the Local Government Unit of Claver, MGB Regional Office No. XIII, Adnama Mining Resources, Inc. (AMRI), Platinum Group Metals Corporation (PGMC), Taganito Mining Corporation (TMC) and Taganito HPAL Nickel Corporation (THPAL) were in attendance at the said activity.
The caravan kicked off with a motorcade and a program wherein Engr. Corsino L. Odtojan, PGMC Vice President for Operations and Chamber of Mines of Caraga Region. Inc. President, gave the Opening Remarks; Municipal Mayor Georgia D. Gokiangkee delivered the Ceremonial Opening Message; and Engr. Francis Glenn N. Suante, Mine Safety, Environment and Social Development Division Chief of MGB Regional Office No. XIII, stated the Rationale of the activity. On a special note, Mayor Gokiangkee acknowledged Mr. Alex C. Arabis, PGMC Community Relations Manager, as the author of the said mining caravan.
During the program, audiovisual presentations of AMRI, PGMC, TMC and THPAL were viewed by the participants. Hon. Rito I. Placencia, Barangay Hayanggabon Councilor, also gave the Testimonial Message while Hon. Leah D. Patan, Sangguniang Bayan Member, delivered the Closing Remarks.
In the afternoon, the Jobs Fair and the Trade Fair took place within the municipal building grounds.
