MGB ROXIII carries on with IEC Campaign on Small-Scale Mining and Training ...

Following the Ceremonial Acceptance and Signing of the Declaration of Minahang Bayan of Gacub Settlers Multi-Purpose Cooperative, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII conducted an Information, Education and Communication Campaign on Small-Scale Mining and Training on Occupational Safety and Health on August 1, 2024 in Barangay La Purisima, Municipality of Prosperidad, Province of Agusan del Sur, marking a series of milestones for the local mining community. A collaborative effort of the Municipal Local Government of Prosperidad, the Provincial Mining Regulatory Board of Agusan del Sur, and the MGB Regional Office No. XIII, the activity aimed to educate and train the residents of Barangay La Purisima on the fundamentals of small-scale mining and occupational safety and health. The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII and the Provincial Government of Agusan del Sur conducted the Ceremonial Acceptance and Signing of the Declaration of Minahang Bayan of Gacub Settlers Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GSMPC) on July 30, 2024 at the Provincial Learning Center, GDOP Government Center in Barangay Patin-ay, Municipality of Prosperidad, Province of Agusan del Sur. At the event, Prosperidad Mayor Frederick Mark P. Mellana delivered the Welcome Remarks, expressing his appreciation to all guests and participants for their presence and support.  Key messages were also delivered by For. Ronulfo R. Paler, Provincial Administrator of the Provincial Government of Agusan del Sur, and Engr. Larry M. MGB ROXIII participates in Annual Legal Forum

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII participated in the Annual Legal Forum on July 17 to 20, 2024 at Madison Park Hotel in Tacloban City. Facilitated by MGB Regional Office No. VIII, the forum aimed to maintain the efficiency of the MGB officials and personnel in implementing laws, rules and regulations, and policies related to the rule of procedures for environmental cases.  In addition, it aimed to prepare these officials and personnel to serve as Expert/Competent Witnesses in Court. The forum was attended by representatives from the MGB Regional Offices namely Regional Directors, Mine Management Division Chiefs, Mine Safety, Environment and Social Development Division Chiefs, Legal Officers and Mining Claims Examiners.  From the MGB Central Office, the Director, Division Chiefs, Legal Staff, and Records Management Representatives attended the said forum. MGB ROXIII takes part in 2024 Mining Engineers’ Convention

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII took part in the Mining Engineers’ Convention on July 10 to 13, 2024 at the Twin Lakes Hotel in Tagaytay. The theme of MinECon 2024 is Innovating for Impact: Harnessing Technology and Expertise for Mining Advancement in the Philippines which brought together professionals to discuss the latest advancements, challenges and opportunities in the minerals industry.  Comprising technical presentations, discussions and networking sessions, the convention showcased the latest advancements in mining technology and sustainable practices.  It also highlighted collective commitments to responsible mining and its positive impact on society and the environment.  The Philippine Society of Mining Engineers (PSEM) spearheaded the convention. The convention concluded with the PSEM General Assembly and the election of a new set of officers. Engr. Francisco J. Arañes, Jr., Resident Manager of Hinatuan Mining Corporation, was elected as the new President for the term 2024-2025. 2024 Environment Month Culmination Program: A festivity for the environment and the future

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII, in cooperation with the Chamber of Mines of Caraga Region, Inc. and Caraga Mine Environmental Management Council Inc., held the Environment Month Culmination Program on June 27, 2024 at the Philippine Gateway Hotel in Surigao City. The theme of this year’s celebration is Our Environment. Our Future.  It lays emphasis on the idea that the actions we take today to protect and preserve the environment will directly impact the well-being and sustainability of future generations. MGB holds FY 2024 2nd Quarter Management Conference

In keeping with the proper implementation of its priority thrusts and programs, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau held the FY 2024 2nd Quarter Management Conference on June 12 to 15, 2024 at Siargao Islands Convention Center in Siargao Islands, Surigao del Norte. The conference was attended by the MGB OIC-Director, OIC-Assistant Director, Regional Directors, Division Chiefs of MGB Central Office, GAD Focal Person, MGBEA National President, and select Policy, Planning and International Affairs Division and MGB Regional Office No. XIII Staff. MGB ROXIII conducts Capacity Building Seminar-Workshop for Caraga Mining Industry’s Mine Rehabilitation Fund Committee and Multi-Partite Monitoring Team

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII, in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the Environmental Management Bureau Regional Offices No. XIII, conducted the Capacity Building Seminar-Workshop for Caraga Mining Industry’s Mine Rehabilitation Fund Committee (MRFC) and Multi-Partite Monitoring Team (MMT) on June 4 to 5, 2024 at the Philippine Gateway Hotel in Surigao City. MGB ROXIII attends Communication Planning Workshop for Eastern Mindanao Biodiversity Corridor

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII attended the Communication Planning Workshop for Eastern Mindanao Biodiversity Corridor on May 14 to 15, 2024 at the Butuan Grand Palace Hotel in Butuan City. Aimed at strengthening the effective implementation of the Integrated Approach in the Management of Major Biodiversity Corridors in the Philippines (Biodiversity Corridor Project), the activity was organized by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources through the Eastern Mindanao Biodiversity Corridor Project Management Unit in cooperation with the Center for Environmental Law and Policy Advocacy, Inc. The Regional Strategic Communication and Initiatives Group personnel; representatives from Local Government Units, Department of Trade and Industry, National Commission on Indigenous Peoples, Mindanao Development Authority and mining companies; students from Caraga State University; and  designated Information Officers of CENROs, PENROs and Protected Areas attended the activity. MGB ROXIII supports Launch of Doing Business in Surigao del Norte Brochure

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII supported the launch of the Doing Business in Surigao del Norte brochure on May 7, 2024 at the Philippine Gateway Hotel in Surigao City. Spearheaded by the Provincial Government of Surigao del Norte, the said launch is a milestone for the province as its potential as a premier investment destination is unveiled through the brochure which was crafted in collaboration with SyCip Gorres Velayo & Co.  A comprehensive resource for potential investors, the brochure highlights the diverse investment opportunities offered by various industries in the province. MGB ROXIII participates in Mindanao Communicators Network Regional Congress

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII participated in the Mindanao Communicators Network Regional Congress (Caraga Leg) on April 29 to 30, 2024 at VCDU Prince Hotel in Butuan City. Organized by the Mindanao Development Authority and the Philippine Information Agency Caraga, the said event aimed at reviving the Mindanao Communicators Network, a group of Information Officers and Public Relations Practitioners pursuing strategic communication exchanges and advocacy of various Mindanao imperatives.  Moreover, the event served as an avenue wherein issues and topics of national relevance were tackled. A considerable number of Information Officers and Public Relations Practitioners from various National Government Agencies and Local Government Units participated in the two-day learning event which comprised sessions, discussions and a workshop on advancing a new narrative for Caraga Region and Mindanao.  The event culminated in a press conference.
